WE'RE SUPPORTING

OUR NHS

WITH

#MAKEITBLUE

At 8pm on 26th March, over 100 of the UK’s iconic venues were lit up in blue, as a heartfelt thank you to the NHS and those risking their health to help others.

Following the success of #LightItBlue, we’re keeping the gratitude and support flowing with #MakeItBlue.

We’d love you to help. Spread the positivity from your sofa by creating blue-themed images, videos and messages to share on #MakeItBlue – and encourage your friends and family to get involved too.

How You Can Help

It couldn’t be easier - just use your humour, imagination and creativity.

1. Create

This could be a video, a photo, messages of support - anything that spreads positivity and thanks. The only rule is, make it blue.

2. Upload

Just add our hashtag #MakeItBlue when uploading to your social channels.

3. Share

Help spread the message further - just nominate your friends and family to get involved too. We think the NHS are amazing, let’s make sure they know.

Let’s get this show on the road. Are you ready?

Who We Are

The #LightItBlue and #MakeItBlue campaigns have been organised by the events and entertainment industry, to salute the brave NHS staff risking their own health to care for others during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’ve been rallying our friends in the industry and inviting them to come on board to #MakeItBlue. Music legends Liam Gallagher, Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp, as well as all three Superbike brothers, Andrew, Glenn and Graeme Irwin, were amongst the first to raise their hands and #MakeItBlue from their homes – sending messages of thanks and encouraging others to follow their lead.

International

#LightItBlue is going global: on 9th April hundreds of landmarks across the United States - from Times Square in New York to the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans - were illuminated blue and posted messages of support.  We were thrilled to watch locations in 112 cities across the 43 states turn blue to thank the country’s key workers. On the 16th April we welcomed Spain to the global movement. Right across Madrid, Valencia, Melilla, Zaragoza, Majadahonda and Barcelona blue venues and stadiums took part in #LightItBlue. More details on https://makeitbluespain.com/

Our Ethos

#LightItBlue came to life when the events and entertainment industry found itself, much like the rest of the UK, in an unprecedented state of enforced inaction.

We thought the most supportive thing we could all do – apart from staying at home – was to use our skills and networks to say a massive thank you to key workers on the frontline, especially NHS staff, who are risking their own health to care for others.

We also feel a huge sense of responsibility for the mental wellbeing of many people within our industry who, having lost their jobs, are feeling anxious and confused about the future. We believe that together, we can galvanize the nation by spreading positivity and support.
